Vital Voices Gather

A nationwide series of gatherings to share your ideas for a Scotland without violence against women and girls...

Almost every area of our lives is affected by public policy decisions, from our healthcare to the public transport we take. Women experience life differently to men and these differences are not always considered. Engender’s Delivering Equally Safe project is exploring the consequences of when these differences are overlooked, particularly in relation to violence against women and girls (VAWG).

We want to hear from women with lived experience of this violence, to explore how all areas of public policy can work better for women and be used to prevent VAWG before it occurs.

  • What would make you feel safer within your community?
  • How would the way you navigate your community change without VAWG?
  • What should policy makers consider?
  • What makes men feel more powerful?

Join one of our Vital Voices Gather events this June in either Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Perth or Glasgow to explore the impact of planning and transport policies on gender inequality and VAWG in your area.

These events will be inclusive, safe spaces with a limit of 20 participants to each. Your vital input will feed into the Delivering Equally Safe project, informing recommendations made to the Scottish Government. You do not need to be a policy expert to attend; this is an open opportunity to be heard and advocate for women within Scotland and your community.

This is a free event and attendees will receive a £30 voucher of their choice. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. There will also be an optional influencing and campaigning workshop in the afternoon for those who would like to learn more about advocating for social change.
