November 6, 2020, 12.15 – 13.30

The booking deadline for this event has passed. If you would like to attend, please email info@engender.org.uk.

The Equality Act 2010 protects the rights of individuals from unfair treatment and discrimination. This session will explore the history of the equality act, analyse how it can be used by feminists, and respond to concerns that the Equality Act may be impacted by proposed reform of the Gender Recognition Act. Engender’s Executive Director Emma Ritch will be joined by Professor Nicole Busby, Professor in Human Rights, Equality and Justice at the University of Glasgow, Lynn Welsh, the Head of Legal at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and Professor Sharon Cowan, Professor of Feminist and Queer Legal Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

This webinar will be held using Zoom, and a link and joining instructions will be sent to everyone who signs up. There will be live transcription of the webinar, and if there is anything else we can do to make it easier for you to attend, for example by providing BSL interpretation or sending slides through in advance, please let us know using the 'special requirements' box on the booking form.
