Despite great advances over the last 100 years, women still tend to experience inequality and discrimination on a daily basis across a range of cultural and economic areas including access to income, pensions and material possessions; career progression and unequal pay; representation in local and national government; and experiencing domestic violence.
Whilst also recognising that men can experience disadvantage, for example by lack of access to flexible working for parenting and caring responsibilities, gender inequality has a greater impact on women because of the underlying gender inequalities that are embedded in our society.
This event aims to provide participants with an opportunity to explore the cultural and economic issues surrounding gender inequality and begin to identify individual and collective actions to challenge it.
