WEBINAR: Poland and Women's Equality: what's going on?
November 10, 2020, 18.30 – 20.00
Poland is not a good place to be a woman right now. Already one of the worst places in Europe for reproductive rights, the Polish Government has now effectively banned all abortions from taking place, forcing women to carry unwanted and unviable pregnancies. This is on top of their previous moves to withdraw Poland from the UN treaty on violence against women (the Istanbul Convention), deny LGBTI+ rights, and enforce strict anti-migrant laws. (Read more about this from the Director of the Young Women’s Movement Scotland here.)
Join us for this webinar to find out more about what this means for women in Poland, discuss what we can do to show solidarity, and hear from Polish activists fighting for equality. When you book your free place, you will also have the option to donate to Aborcyjny Dream Team, working on the ground in Poland to end abortion stigma.
We'll be hosting the webinar via Zoom, and a link will be emailed to you on the day. If there's anything we can do to make it easier for you to attend, for example by providing live captioning or or BSL interpretation, please let us know by emailing info@engender.org.uk.
If you booked a place, you will have been emailed a join link - please check your spam/clutter/promotions folder and contact us via twitter DM or at alys.mumford@engender.org.uk if you haven't received it.
