General Election 2015

General Election 2015

On May 7th people across the UK will head out to vote in the General Election.

The run up to any election sees promises made, points scored and pledges signed. But what do the major parties have to say about women?

You can see all of the party manifestos by clicking the links below, but we've also produced a brief summary of what the manifestos say about key issues relating to women. As you will see, while many parties make positive commitments, they have all failed to recognise the need for a gendered approach to policy making.

This summary is a resource which can be used to challenge your Westminster candidates online or at any upcoming hustings. You can also use the list of questions put together by women's organisations across Scotland to quiz candidates about their commitment to gender equality, and take action on the Abortion Rights UK website to ask candidates specifically about their views on abortion.

You can also read our series of blog posts examining sexism in the lead up to the general election.
