Call yourself a Feminist?
Look out for this new series on BBC Radio 4 (9am), looking at key feminist campaigns. Women talking about what motivated them, the tactics used and the response both in the media/society at the time and in subsequent legislation. Archive material will illustrate some of the history. Begins with women in the workplace and the campaign for equal rights. UK and US activists will take part. (NB President Obama began his tenure by signing the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.)

Who cares for the carers?
Pilmeny Youth Centre, Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh (off Leith Walk) 10.15am–3.30pm.
A multicultural event for all women who care. To explore how we can learn from each other – and then let government, local council services and care agencies know what they can do to improve support for carers. Bring your concerns and ideas (no advance preparation needed).
Multicultural buffet lunch – you are welcome to bring a (cold) dish to share. (provided.)
English will be the language used, but please bring your own interpreter if you have any difficulties. Open Futures in Edinburgh will facilitate the event and outcomes will be presented to all relevant organisations.
