Engender's one-day conference on International Women's Day will bring people from across Scotland together to reflect on our progress towards gender equality. Held in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, 10am-4.30pm (Registration 9.30am), the event is an opportunity to hear speakers and take part in discussions around; gender budgeting, occupational segregation, welfare reform and poverty, childcare, women in the economy, criminal justice system and rights legislation, trafficking and prostitution, child poverty, women and enterprise, care, rural women, temporary special measures, women in political and public life, stereotyping and cultural prejudices, gender and asylum, equality before the law, violence against women, older women and more....

The learning from the day will inform Engender's next submission to the UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

We're delighted to have Jean Urquhart MSP opening the day, which will be chaired by broadcaster and journalist Lesley Riddoch.   Speakers include Professor Ailsa MacKay, Catherine Stihler MEP, Maggie Kelly, Morag Gillespie, Linda Somerville and Dr Fiona MacKay.  The day will offer the opportunity to discuss and debate the issues with panel and breakout sessions and we will be introducing our 'superhero for women' - our animated film on CEDAW.

Please note: This is a FREE event with a £50 'no-show' charge for those who register and fail to attend on the day. Tickets are fully transferable - to avoid the no show fee, transfer your ticket to another person or return your ticket/booking to Engender by 1st March.
