Engender is looking for a Finance Officer
AP3 £20,388 - £22,371 (pro rata 16 hours)
Engender is looking to recruit a part time Finance Officer to be responsible for the day-to-day administration of Engender’s finances and for developing, maintaining and monitoring financial systems that will keep the Executive Director and Projects Director up to date and informed about the financial situation of the organisation so that they can make decisions and manage the organisation and its operations effectively.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in the charity sector working with trust, government and EU grant accounting and reporting systems. They will enjoy working in cooperation with the staff and Board of Engender to ensure that financial processes are both effective and enabling. They will want to work for and promote the equality of women and a feminist analysis and demonstrate this through their attitudes and behaviour.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for:
1. Financial systems management and maintenance such as:
• Developing and maintaining financial systems (preferably SAGE & EXCEL) in ways that enable up to date monitoring of income expenditure against the overall budget, budget lines and funded projects.
• Providing the Executive Director and Treasurer with regular cash flow reports and forecasts, budget reports of projects, annual budget, updates on spend and current cash flow.
• The management of bank accounts and banking including maintaining up-to-date signatories and encashment facilities and bank accounts.
2. Day to day book keeping such as:
• The payment and issuing of invoices and receipts.
• Managing petty cash systems.
• Managing systems for allowances and reimbursement of expenses for the Board, project partners and participants.
3. Financial Monitoring and reporting such as:
• Prepare monthly financial report and submit them to the Executive Director
• Preparing relevant financial information for funding applications and reporting to funders.
• Submitting claims to EU Interreg and other funders where necessary.
• To provide financial breakdowns and statistical information funders as required.
• To maintain records and progress of funding applications
• Preparation of financial information for budgeting and working with the Executive Director to develop and review budgets.
• Preparation of accounts for Annual Audit.
• To liaise with SCVO Payroll re salaries and provide returns to Inland Revenue.
They will also be expected to:
• Actively participate staff team meetings, and attend occasional Board meetings at the request of the Executive Director.
• Work along side other members of staff participate to achieve the smooth running of a small but busy office; demonstrating a willingness to help out and be a member of a team.
