16 Days of Action against VAW - events

The following events are being held during the 16 days of Action 2009 - please get in touch if you know of any others in Scotland...

E-mail postcard campaign - Scottish Women's Aid   Send an email postcard to your local councillors demanding more be done to end violence against women.  Get postcards and councillor contact lists from the Scottish Women's Aid website http://www.scottishwomensaid.org.uk/influencing-and-campaigning/16-days-of-activisim-against-gender-based-violence

Not Protected - Amnesty and SWA demonstration in Edinburgh - 4th December

White Ribbon March - 4th December, Starting from Stirling Castle Esplanade at 6pm 
The march will be led by the Central Scotland Police Pipe Band and will finish at the Stirling Council Viewforth building.
All are welcome to take part. For more information on the event, contact Anne Salter on anne@geomantics.net  - otherwise just turn up and join in.
If you would be willing to be a steward on the march (should be an easy one and full briefing and a yellow bib will be provided in any case) then we'll pay your train fare from Edinburgh, Glasgow or equivalent. Domestic Violence: A Human Rights Issue - Scottish Women's Aid - 5th December -  details here

H Is 4 - 9th December, 2.30-4pm, Royal Concert Hall, Buchanan St, Glasgow                                                     Women's Support Project is hosting 'H is 4', a short play investigating issues around childhood sexual abuse, homelessness and the emotions involved in seeking appropriate help and support,. Written and performed by Naomi Breeze (Breeze Productions). The play will be followed by a panel discussion with Naomi and service providers. Tickets are free, but to avoid disappointment please fill out and return a Booking Form (available from amywsproject@btconnect.com)  Sign language interpreters are available.

Demonstrate in Glasgow - 13th December, Buchanan St                                                                                        Glasgow Feminist Network is planning a street event on Saturday December 13th following the 16 Days of Action against gendered violence campaign. GFN are looking to recruit twenty volunteers to wear red and hold placards between 1 and 2pm.  Please email glasgowfeministnetwork@hotmail.co.uk  if you are able to take part.
